COLONIAL TEAM FOR ENGLAND. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright. I Received 10, 10.55 p.m. Sydney, July 16. i The council of the llugby Union considered the letter of the English Union : stating that the South African Union ; had accepted an invitation to .send a Iteam to Great Britain in the season of i 1912-13 as the guests of the English, 'Scotch, Welsh, and Irish unions, iuid .asking if a date could be arrange when .a combined Australian and New Zealand iteam could be sent. The council irej plies that whilst agreeing to the combination as a settled policy of 'the J union for future tours, it is agreeable ,in the interests of the game to join I Queensland and New Zealand in sending a team to meet any special case, though I there would be difficulties as regards the selection and gathering of the team.
The matches set down for competition this week, with the referees appointed therefor, are as follows: TO-MORROW'S FIXTURES.
v. Stratford (play-off for championship); Mr. G. Hopkins. First Juniors.—Clifton v. Eltham, at Eltham, at 1 p.m.; An Eltham referee. Second Juniors.—lnglewood v. High School, at Inglewood, at 3 p.m., Mr. L. ])e Launay; Stratford v. Eltham, at Eltham, at 3 p.m., an Eltham referee.
For the Star-Okato match, which will be played at Okato on Saturday, and will decide the Saturday division championship, Mr. Coltman has been appointed referee.
At. the last meeting of the South Auckland Rugby Union the secretary was instructed to communicate with the Taranaki and Wanganui Unions with a view to arranging matches with teams at those places when the South Auckland team is on tour.
