MURDER.

A DOUBTFUL STORY.

By Cable —Press Association —Copyright Sydney, .Tuly 10.

A deserter from the warship Drake was recaptured and sentenced to a term of detention, and handed to the Naval authorities. He made a statement that lie and another man were concerned in the murder of Leon Beron, on Clapham Common on January 1, 1911, and that Morrison, who is undergoing a sentence for the crime, is not guilty. The authorities attach little importance to the confession, and consider that lie is seeking cheap notoriety. lie was working in the Home Fleet at the time of the traced v. Amongst Edgerton's effects was a rambling letter to Lord Chelmsford that the police and others were dogging and trying to murder him, and preventing him earning a living.
