The Standard says that perhaps tne result of the Hanley election has encouraged Mr. Massingham's demonstration. Mr. Lloyd George may be cornered in the Cabinet, but he can win elections. If the interesting domestic quarrel .at issue is uncertain the Unionists must look to their weapons and he in readiness for that surprise election whereto the Prime Minister may resort as the only escape from a most uncomfortable situation.
