The fpeak-Prs denounced the measure, a copy of which was afterwards soaked in oil and publicly burned. Several business places hoisted the black flag. APATHETIC INDIFFERENCE. Received 17, 1.30 aan. London, July 16. Ten thousand peopie at Hdye Park burnt copies of the Insurance Act. Two shipyards at Sunderland are idle owing to the new time rules in connection with the Act. Many men at other yards have also struck. The country generally received the Act ■with apathetic acquiscence. The Dock Labor Joint Committee at Liverpool and the Dockers' Union warn strikers that unless they resume work tbey will lose the benefit of recognition of the union.
Nearly three thousand, mostly older casual laborers, at the Grimsby fish market, have been dismissed with the advent of the Insurance Act.
