(From our own correspondent.) It has been decided to hold the next ploughing match on Thursday, September 12, on 'Mr. Birdling's farm. The date chosen is the Thursday between the annual race meeting of .the Hunt Club and the bicycle race. _ The enterprising burglar was busy on Sunday night. Several places were" visited, but only a small haul was made. | At Mr. 1). George's the visitor went to a [ good deal of trouble to enter, carefully cutting away a portion of the glass windown at the back of the premises and gaining an entry. Some seven or eight ! shillings was the result. Mr. W. McKenzie's stables were entered, but nothing is missing. An effort to wrench the look off Hatrick's bonded store was a failure, but at Burgess Eraser's the hasp was broken. Nothing, however, was disturbed, and so far nothing has been missed, and it is evident something occurred to prevent a theft. Apparently George's was the last place visited, as a pair of pliers was found on the window sill. It looks as if the same tool had been used in each case. Constable Lapouple has the matter in hand. On Saturday evening a horse was surreptitiously borrowed from the Club Stables. On Sunday morning the horse's rug was found at Mannkorihi Pa, from which a saddle and bridle were missing. On Sunday morning the horse was found on the other side of 'Waihi, quietly grazing on the side of the road, with the saddle and bridle on. and was brought back to Wnitara. No doubt someone borrowed the horse, rode-to Waihi, and then turned the animal adrift.
