ROWING.
A COMPARISON OF STYLES. By Cubic —Press Association —Copyright. Received 9, 12.40 a.m. London, July 8. The Times, commenting on the Grand [Challenge Cup, says that the Australians' style is not fundamentally different to the English style. The difference is rather in rig than in style. The determining factor of rig requires fuller 'investigation than it has received. A special effort is required on the part of British oarsmen to compete successfully with the foreign and colonial element. The latter row more easily and produce great, if not greater pace. Other papers pay a high tribute to the Australian rowers. The Sportsman says that the Leander ercw erred badly in not regarding them seriously enough. The result was a serious blow to the /English style of rowing. I The Standard says that there is no I excuse for the Leander crew's failjure. The prospect of turning the tables at Stockholm is very remote.
