The death occurred at Masterton on Wednesday of Mrs. Hughes, at the age of ninety years. " The death is reported from Wanganui of Mr. Samuel Priest, one of Eketahuna's earliest settlors, at the aye of seventy nine years. The Wellington Diocesan Synod, bv resolution on Friday, placed on record its sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr. W. Swadling, svnodsmaii for Opunake, and its appreciation of the services he 'rendered to the Church in a remote country district.
