J RAILWAY APPEAL BOARD. By Telegraph—Press Association. Whangarei, Yesterday. The Railway Appeal Board, Dr. McArthnr presiding, occupied the whole of yesterday in re-hearing the case of T. J. Riordan, formerly clerk at the Whangarei railway station, who appealed against his dismissal for unsatisfactory service. Judgment was given this morning directing the reinstatement of Riordan for six months on probation under another stationmaster without salary. There were numerous witnesses from different parts of the Dominion. A GUARD REINSTATED. Christchurch, Yesterday. Guard Cadman, whose case attracted attention by reason of the exercise of the. Ministerial veto on the decision of the Appeal Board, has been reinstated. Cadman was charged with neglecting to break the couplings; ho .urged that if he had left the brake in the position alleged the train would have been unable to move. He was recently instructed to go to Wellington, where a practical test was made, with the result that hta contention was upheld.
