HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVESWEDNESDAY, JULY 3, 1912. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The House met at 2.30. The Mining Act Amendment Bill (Hon. J. Colvin), Coal Mines Act, 1908, Amendment Bill (Hon. J. Colvin), and the Sunday Labor Bill (Mr. F. M. B. Fisher) were read a first time. In replying to questions, Ministers said that it was the intention of the Government to restore to the Estimates the vote for a monument to the late Hon. R. J. Seddon that was previously approved by Parliament; the Government approves of the principle of purchasing estates in advance of railway construction, and securing to the Dominion the advantages afterwards of opening the country by railways; the Government is considering the question of simplifying the military regulation regarding administering the oath to lads under eighteen years of age, or, in the alternative, of doing away with it altogether. The House then discussed answers to questions until the 5.30 adjournment.
