Mr. Lloyd George, in his speech at Woodford, said: "We boast of the largest »avy in the world, the greatest commerce on land and sc. the greatest mercantile marine, and the greatest Empire, but ■when shall we think it worth while to boast we have an Empire of the happiest people, free from poverty and the terrors of children crying for bread?" "In front of you," said Mr. Lloyd George, "is the biggest task democratic Britain will undertake. We have got to free a land shackled in chains of feudalism, from whit is a shame and a disgrace to the richest country in the world. The Insurance Act is the beginning, and with God's help is but the beginning." DOCTORS TERMINATE CONTRACTS. Received 1, 9.20 p.m. London, July 1. The doctors in London. Manchester. Leicestershire and the West Riding of Yorkshire have given notice to terminate all contracts with friendly societies and clubs from December 31, in consequence of the Insurance Bill.
