An aviator named Sablating, with a passenger, was sailing at a height of 1300 feet, when the controlling levers broke. He crept forward and operated the planes by hand. The aeroplane fell and was smashed to atoms, but both escaped uninjured. During Aviation Week Lieutenant Blashke and a passenger reached a height of 13,970 feet, establishing a record. Berlin, July 1. An aviator named Schadt fell 800 feet at Mulhausen and was killed. Madrid, July 1. Captain Bayo was killed at a military •erodrome. where French and British airmen were instructing Spanish officers.
