GALE IN GISBORNE.

DAMAGE IN THE TOWN. By Telegraph—Press Association. Gisborne, Last Night. A heavy gale struck Gisborne on Saturday evening. Several fences and windows were smashed, including some large plate-glash windows in the town. The Navua, from the north, will not be tendered! until dawn, and will be signalled to that effect. She will probably shelter under Young Nick's Head.

THE STAR OF CANADA. Gisborne, Last Night. The gale last night may have a prejudicial effect on the salvage of the Star of Canada. All day heavy seas have been breaking over 'her bows. An attempt was made on Saturday to back 'her off, but though the trial was regarded! as satisfactory, the vessel was left on the rocks 1 .
