Received 27, 11.45 p.m. London, June 27. The Daily Hail states that it expected Australia's downfall, but the Australians fought with their backs to the wall, a game at which they are unequalled. McLaren, writing to the press, says that Macartney's was as fine an innings as any Australian ever played at Lords. Kelleway's innings was full of merit, if slow. SOUTH AFRICA v. SCOTLAND. London, June 26. | In the match Scotland v. South Africa Scotland completed their second innings for 93. Pegler took four wickets for 34, Faulkner two for 14; and Cox four for 39. Scotland in the first innings made 136, and South Africa lost srx wickets for 171, but it is not stated whether the innings was completed or declared closed. GREGORY'S PRESENTATION. Received 27, 11.40 p.m. London, June 20. Sir George Reid presented Gregory with a silver cup and two hundred ' sovereigns. Lord Harris congratulated Gregory on his great cricket career, and the ability and spirit he had displayed in fifty test matches. DEATH OF BONNOR. Received 28, 12.5 a.m. Sydney, June 27. J. J. Bonnor. the one time famous cricketer, is dead.
