It now appears that the New York delegation is forcing Mayor Gaynor'e name to the forefront. Bryan's friends .are anxious to induce him to accept candidature. Mr. Champ Clark appears to hold the strongest candidature, but the general belief is that a dark horse will appear at the last moment. BRYAN GETS BUSY. Received 27, 9.10 p.m. Baltimore, June 27. On Mr. Bryan's motion the committee sgreed to defer consideration of a platform until after a candidate is nominated. Mr. Bryan refused the chairmanship of the Resolutions Committee, but forced the election of Kerns thereto.
A TRUST COMBINATION. Received 27, 11.45 p.m. Baltimore, June 27. 'During a debate on the question of unit rule for States' delegations, recommended by the Credentials Committee, a demonstration led by the New Jersey delegates was made in favor of Woodrow Wilson. It lasted thirty-three minutes. Others endeavored to turn the tide in Underwood's favor. An attempt was made to carry a banner on to the platform through the press gallery, from ■which the bearer was ejected. Chicago, June 27. Mr. Roosevelt declares that he intends to fight the Presidential issue upon the assertion that the big interests, trusts, etc., combined to force him from public life.
