DAIRYING

THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION. By Telegraph—Press Association. Palmereton North, Last Night. The annual meeting of the National Dairy Association was held here yesterday, Mr. Morton, president, in the chair. About a hundred delegates were present. The chairman, in Mb address, congratulated members on the highly satisfactory result of the year's operations. During the last year or two operations had been extended. Several factories in the district had been added. Last year not the same amount of produce was going through the Association, which accounted for the decrease in commission. He felt confident that if members would only realise the value of the Association, tliey would much more largely take advantage of it for purposes of the industry. In regard to butter thev could lmd a larger market both in* Europe and in North America. Cheese would still have to be sent to England, which was practically the only market. Herds should he properly tested. The numVer of cow-testing associations in the country and the result of their work showed that the farmer could improve his records considerably. The outlook for the coming season was promising, and there was a possibility that the value of byproducts would be materially increased. He believed that the prosperity in England and on the Continent was such as to ensure high prices. Mr. A. Macfarland (Pahiatua) and Mr. W. Fisher (Carterton), the retiring directors, were re-eltecd. The sum of £SO was voted to the chairman and £2O each to the directors. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Dairy Factory Managers' Association was held to-night. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Mr. W. C. Dixon (Thames Valley); vice-presidents. Messrs. J. Tait (IviVo), T. C. Irving (Greytown), R. M. Mathie.wri (Kongotea), J. Middleton (Canterbury); committee, Messrs. ,(. Sinclair (Opotiki), A. Benge (Cambridge), McQueen (Manatahij, J. Rutherford (Bell Block), G. West (Dalefield), C. Farley (Kaponga). J. R. Curie (Hawera); secretary, Mr. J. Murray (Taradale, Napier); auditor, Mr. \Y. E, Bondall (Palmerston North). Several new members were elected. A discussion on preventing the pasteurisation of show exhibits of cheese, butter, etc., came to nothing, no one moving in the matter.
