POISONED BY GAS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. Geo. William Sears, storeman, fortysix years of age, married, residing at Kidmore street, was found dead this morning on the hearth of the kitchen gas range. He was on his chest, and the gas was turned on full. Since his discharge from the mental hospital in February deceased has been very much depressed, owing to ill-health. SUICIDE BY HANGING. Wellington, Last Night. The ibody of John Charles Wilkinson was found hanging by the neck from a tree in Happy Valley, Brooklyn, yesterday afternoon. Deceased, who was about fifty-eight years of age, had been missing from his home in Marama Crescent for some 'days. He was recently liberated from the mental hospital.

DEATH OF A PRISONER. Wellington, Last Night. Arthur William James Johnstone, who was sentenced on June 7 to three months' imprisonment for vagrancy, died in the hospital to-day, shortly after being transferred from gaol, where he Iliad been under treatment by the prison surgeon.

DEATH OF A CHILD. Wellington, Last Night. Isabella Pollock, nine years old, residing with her mother in Adelaide road, died yesterday. The child complained of being unwell on Tuesday, but was at school on Friday. Influenza is supposed to be the cause of death.
