THE HON 0. W. RUSSELL. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christehurch, Last Night. The Hon. (i. W.. Russell delivered a speech at the Choral Hall t'o-night, on the lines of his previous addresses. The speaker ridiculed the coalition theory, and added that if the Ministry was defeated the coming Parliament would accept the position, but would make it foot for tlieiri successors. He did not think that' there would be another election. He neplied to complaints re Ministers Tunning about the country, stating that it was necessary to put their position and policy before the peopte direct, in view of the tarradiddles of Opposition speakers and organs and the fact that tho Liberal newspapers were being bought up, by conservative proprietors. He also defended the setting up of Royal commissions. At the close of his speech he was accorded a vote of thanks and confidence.
