ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
WITH THE AXE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Ashburton, Last Night. This afternoon a single middle-aged man named Masken, residing with his father in Willis street, deliberately cut his arm in five places with a tomahawk. He was removed to the hospital. Although the wounds are severe it is not thought that they will prove of a dangerous nature. A FOOTBALL ACCIDENT. Ashburton, Last Night. While playing football at Ashburton on Thursday afternoon S. Armstrong collided with another player and sustained a broken collarbone. FOUND DEAD. Dunedin, Last Night. The police have received advice that David Winter, a farmer at Mt. Cargill, was found dead in bed this morning. During the last two years Winter suffered from fits, but had never consulted a doctor. FOUND DEAD. Gisborne, Last Night. The police have received advice that a man named John Meßain was found dead in bed at Ohekaho station, SO.miles from Wairoa. It is understood that deceased was employed at a station and was formerly resident in Gisborne.
