Liberal newspapers say that Mr. AgarRobartes' amendment, excluding Antrim, Armagh and Londonderry from the scope of Home Rule, was the crux of the Home Rule Bill, and the defeat of the amendment implies that the critieal point has been turned. DUAL CHAMBER RETAINED. Received 20, 10.25 p.m. London, June 20. The House of Commons, by 288 votes to 199, refused to establish a single chamber Government for Ireland. The Opposition supported the motion on the ground that the proposed Senate would be a sham safeguard, and if only local government were conceded a second chamber was not required.
