The Strike Committee states that machinery has been put into operation to "block all vessels diverted to Continental or Home ports. Several Atlantic liners are delayed at Southampton, where two hundred extra police have arrived with outside labor, also imported. Owing to the strike the departure of the Waimana, Rangitara and' Norseman has >3en postponed indefinitely. They carry 2600 immigrants to New South Wales, and 500 to Victoria.

The experiment of working barges with unlicensed men is satisfactory. A hundred thousand children at the East End are daily receiving free meals.
