The Premier was fined £2 for having failed to have his son vaccinated. Y.M.C.A. CAMPAIGN. Melbourne, June 18. The Y.M.C.A. to-morrow will inaugurate a campaign to secure £ 10,000 in ten day 3 for the erection of new buildings. THE QUEENSLAND POLTCE. Melbourne, June 18. The Government will increase the police vote by nearly £50,000 and add two hundred men. THE ABOLITION OF KILTS. Melbourne, June 18. Mr. Pearce Minister of Defence, speaking regarding the abolition of kilts, said that the Commonwealth was unable to have national regiments with a territorial organisation, owing to the inconvenience caused. If these were retained the territorial system would have to go. THE TRANS-CONTINENTAL RAILWAY. Melbourne, June 18. Work on the trans-continental railway has been suspended. The Commonwealth claims not only all land required for the railway, but also all catchment areas. South Australia insists on the water catchments not being given, unless the State railway engineer certifies that they are reasonably required for trans-conti-nental purposes.
