New York, June 17. At Sacramento, California, a farmer named Thomas found a wild goose bearing the legent, "North Pole, June 24, 1896, Major Andree," but the story is not confirmed. AUTHOR AND ACTRESS. London, June 17. James W. Ritchie, a city merchant, has divorced his wife, who appears on the stage under the name of Mary Grey. James B. Fagan, dramatic author, was cited! as co-respondent. OLYMPIA HORSE SHOW. London, June 17. The horse show has opened at Olympia. Prizes to the amount of £13,500 are being given. There are a large number of foreign entrants for the international jumping competition, including an Austrian officer. THE SWEDISH ACCIDENT. Stockholm, June 17. Three carriages were reduced to splinters through the collision at Malmslaett station. Blood was flowing freely from the debris. Many had been suffocated by gas from the lighting apparatus.
