MOTOR ACCIDENT
' LITTLE GIRL'S NARROW ESCAPE. Palmerston North, June 16. There was a very narrow escape from a serious accident at the junction of Rangitikei street, with the Square yesterday afternoon, a little girl being run down by a motor-car. The child (a daughter of Mr. Henshaw, of Tokomaru) was crossing the road with her aunt wlten a motor-car, driven by a youn'g man named Withy, came around the corner "from the Square, and collided with the child. A young man named Taylor, wlio was standing at the corner at the' time, 'made a gallant effort to save the little girl, but she slipped from his grasp, and went under the car between tlje 1 wheels, and. it went clean over her, fortunately,' without doing her any injury, and all she suffered was some rather bad bruises from contact with the road. The | young man Taylor only escaped being run over by clinging to the front of the I ciir. He sustained a number of cuts and bruises.
