RECIPROCITY NEGOTIATIONS. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Melbourne, June 15. Mr. Tudor is ignorant of the basis of the reports from London that a hitch has occurred in the reciprocity negotiations with Canada. The latter has been asked for a list of articles for which preference is desired. A reply says that the matter will be submitted to the Canadian Minister of Customs, who is visiting England. THE FEDERAL TARIFF. Melbourne, June 15. The Federal Government caucus has decided that the tariff shall not be touched during the coming session. Only anomalies will be rectified. PASSENGER ACCOMMODATION. Melbourne, June 15. At a meeting of the Marine Board it was stated that except the Warrimoo ' and Loongana all passenger vessels were granted certificates. The Victoria has sufficient boats and rafts for the full number of passengers and crew. Exemptions were granted to the Warrimoo and Loongana because they have watertight compartments, which are held to render them unsinkable. STEEL WORKS. Sydney, June IS. The Broken Hill Proprietary is negotiating for land near Newcastle for proposed large steel works. It is estimated that if they are established nearly ten thousand people will eventually be employed. ANTHRAX IN TASMANIA. Hobart, June 15. By an anthrax outbreak at Golconda, on the north-east coast, four cattle died •a one farm, which is now strictly quarantined.
