Further planks in the Federal platform are to promote the settlement •f the Northern Territory, to secure to the settlers of the closer settled districts therein the right to the freehold, to cooperate with the States and the Imperial Government in a vigorous immigration policy, and a white Australia, to promote Australian defence on the lines of Imperial co-operation, to maintain the present tariff policy, and to establish a board of trade or other nonpolitical body, which will make recommendations for the adjustment of the tariff.
