MONTHLY MEETING. : (iFrom Our Own Correspondent). I At tlie monthly meeting of the above | Board the clerk reported that Messrs. I J. Connett, EL B. Lepper, and R. Turn- | bull had been elected members, and I these members and Messrs. Hall and SurI rey were present.' Mr. J. Connett • was i elected chairman for the ensuing year. ' Correspondence was read from Messrs Haskell and Co., ,re Waitara road con- ■ tract; from Mr. J. Kenwood stating that >Mr. D. Wright would undertake the 1 looking after of the toll-gate on Wortley [road; from the Valuation Department stating that alterations to the roll would :be forwarded as soon as possible; from ! Mr. W. Free, complaining of the condition of Karaka road; from the Railway Department stating that the Board could have the use of crow without charge for bending railway irons; from the ratepayers on Elsham road, requesting that a loan of £SO be raised for metalling the lower part of the road. Surfaceman Palmer reported that he had been engaged assisting at concrete ' work at the Mangawera bridge, and had .arranged-with Mr. Coleman to deliver 50 yards of metal for repairs to Waitara road, at Cs 6d per yard. There was too much water in Richard's pit to allow of getting metal out. Surfaceman Giddy reported that he had been working with Mr. George at MangaweTa bridge the greater part of , | the month. 'The balance of metal from j< Crowe's pit had been quarried, and the contractors would be putting it on Riehr mond road shortly. | The chairman reported that Mr. George had' inspected the Mangawera bridge on Richmond road, and consideir- ' ed it in ;fair condition. The clerk was instructed to take the necessary steps to raise a loan for metal-' ling the Elsnam road, and the special j order striking a rate for the loan on ( Bertram road was passed. , Surfaceman. Giddy was instructed to 1 arrange, with Haskell and Co. re delivering a part of the metal authorised for' repairing the Manutahi west road on to j the Corpett ( road. The .chairman was authorised to in-| spect trie fcafaka road, and do what he I considered necessary. It was resolved to strike a general | rate of %d for the ensuing year at the; next meeting of the Board; also that I tenders be invited for the purchase of the timber: u«ed .for concrete work at : the Manga(wera. bridge. , j Mr., D.
