JUNIOR GRADE. STAR 3 v. ELTHAM S. A drawn game was played on the lacreation Grounds yesterday between junior teams representing Star and Bltham. Star had the upper hand in the first half, but their opponents had the advantage in the second spell. On the whole the game, which early resolved itself into a hard forward tussle, was evenly contested. Eltliam threw away a lot of chances through hanging on to the ball too long. Towards the end of the game they had a no-charge shot at goal, which nearly gave them a lead. James at five-eighths and Gleeson at full-back were conspicuous among the Star backs, while Glentworth and Cooper were the pick of the opposing rearguard. Cooper, however, has a bad tendency to pick the ball out of the scrum. Both forward packs worked hard. Prcece scored for Star. Mr. H. Petty ably controlled the game.
TUKAPA 11 v. INGLEWOOD 9. At Inglcwood, Tukapa juniors defeated the local fifteen by 11 points to 9. STRATFORD 9 v. CLIFTON 3. The Stratford men had a lucky win against Clifton at the Stratford racecourse yesterday. They had the best of the first spell, and placed three goals. In the second spell the Clifton men took charge, and the locals were repeatedly forced, but the visitors had no luck, and also were unable to realise that their strength lay in the forwards. Soon after the start Loveridge landed a goal from a penalty. The ball fell on the bar. and bounced over. The locals kept the Clifton men penned down, and Surgenor kicked another penalty goal from near half-way. Bowler lost the ball at the end of a run to the corner. Surgenor marked, and goaled from the 25 flag just before half-time. The game, which was not a good one in any way, was more willing in the second spell, and the Clifton men were too strong generally, having the worst of the luck. Limmer scored a try, and Waka made a good but unsuccessful shot at goal. They should have had another couple of tries, but their luck was out, and the Stratford men kept their six points lead. Mr. Joe Thomas was referee.
THIRD GRADE. HIGH SCHOOL 13 v. INGLEWOOD 0. Playing at New Plymouth, High i School defeated Inglewood hy 13 points to nil.
