William Ward, who was arrested in West Australia, charged with the murder of Ernest Smith at Chiswick in 1908, haß been sentenced to nine months' imprisonment for manslaughter. While in the Brixton Prison Ward saved the life of a warder whom another prisoner had attacKed.
