ST. AUBYN TOWN BOARD

MONTHLY MEETING. The fst. Aubyn Town Board met oa Tuesday evening, the chairman (M*. Q, E. Blanchard) presiding. The foreman reported that his time during the month had been taken up by maintenance work, cleaning water-tables, blinding on the South road, levelling and clearing weeds. He pointed out the urgent necessity of doing metal repairs to the South road between Outfield road and Morshead's hill. He also reported on various properties where noxious weeds were growing and others where overhanging trees and hedges were causing inconvenience. It was decided to attend to the metalling when the general scheme is carried out, and to communicate with owners oi property on which there are noxious weeds. LOAN WORKS. The State Guaranteed Advances Offica advised that £4830 of the £SOOO applied for had been finally approved of. The loan is for general improvement* to streets and roads, and the construction of culverts in the town district, and the Board decided to start work immediately. Instructions were given to the enginee* to prepare plans and specifications for earthwork on Roy terrace and Newton street, a culvert over the Mangotuku stream on the Belt road, and for channelling, metalling and kerliing on the South road, between Cutfield road and Belt road. It was decided to write to the Borough Council with regard to other proposed works, asking if the levels of Gaine street were fixed when the Cutfield road levels were laid down, as the Board would shortly be putting down kerhing in Gaine street. The Council is also being asked to state the proposed permanent widths of the footpaths on South road, in view of the early advent of trams. GENERAL. In a suggested aportionment of tha Board's share of two loans, the clerk to the County Council estimated St. Ahbvn's share of the bridge loan to b« £667 7s Sd, and the old Barrett Road Board loan to be £ISOO. The estimates met with the Board's approval. Accounts amounting to £6B 6s 5d were passed for payment.
