Mr. Thomas, replying to the Chinese Consul, said he was prepared to raise no objection to young Chinese, fully accredited, coming to Australia to study in high schools or the university, but the practice of sending younger children, whose parents resided' here, to attend school had grown, and so it had been decided to stop it.
AMERICAN PRECAUTIONS. Received 11, 9.30 p.m. New York, June 11. The Government is establishing a regular system of revenue cutters to patrol the Californian coast and prevent Chinese, surreptitiously landing. Fifty recently landed and were captured.
