The resolutions of the Labor Conference in favor of a six-hour day and a five-day week are described by Mr. Fisher as a modest ideal. Asked if he agreed with the resolution,'he replied: "An eminent man once said, 'Hitch your waggon to a star.' I believe in trying to reduce the drudgery of life."
AN INCREASE OF WAGES. Sydney, June 10. The Railway Permanent Way Department Juis granted an all-round increase of a shilling daily wages from April. MARITIME STRIKE THREATENED. Sydney, June 10. The wharf laborers' delegate to the trades' union congress predicted a maritime strike within a year.
