ARGENTINE EXPORTS. By Telegraph—Presa Association. Wellington, Friday. The following shipments of produce were dispatched from the Argentine to United Kingdom ports during May, 1912 (the corresponding figures for May, 1911, appearing in parentheses):— Frozen beef, 153,000 quarters (160,788); chilled beef, 209,000 quarters (173,659); frozen mutton, 171,000 carcases (209,533); frozen lamb, 109,000 carcases (65,749); butter, 275cwt.

j NEWTON KING'S WEEKLY REPORT. ! On Thursday, May 30, I had a good attendance at Mr. A. P. Hughes' clearj ing sale at Riverlea. The majority of; the cows were low in condition, realising from £7 to £1) 5s for best, others £3 10s to £6 :ss, dray and harness £ls, heifers £5 Is to £6. At Bel! Block on Friday, for Mr. E. Westwood's clearing sale, there was it very large attendance. Good quality cows were very keenly competed for and realised from £lO to £l4, late calvers £4 10s to £9. three-quarter bred cows £4 to £3 10s, some nice 2-year Jersey heifers from £8 to £lO, small £6 to £6 15s, store pigs £1 10s. On Saturday I held my monthly horso fair when owing to the exceptionally rough day many of the horses intended for sale did not arrive. Competition was anything but keen, the sale being on the slack side throughout. I quote: Half-draughts £l7 to £2l, harness •horses £lO 5s to £l6, upstanding hacks £ll to £l4, hacks £3 to £6 12s (id, pair ponies £"25 10s, Cortland waggon £34. At Rahotu on Tuesday, 4th inst.,'owing to the wretched weather, I had only a small entry, a lot of advertised cattle not being yarded. Some good heifers were penned, meeting with very keen : competition at advanced rates. LOAN & MERCANTILE CO.'S REPORT. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. and Bed, (Stratford branch), report:— "On Friday, May 31, we held our springing heifer sale, and all the advertised heifers came forward, about 250 being yarded. Although the 1 weather was rough, wet and cold, there was a large attendance of buyers, including men from Palmerston North, Feilding, •' Wanganui, Hawera, etc., but in most cases the local farmers appeared to outbid the strangers, due, no doubt, to the reliable quality and good condition of the stock offered. Competition was keen and bidding quick. The heifers offered on account of Messrs Hann Bros, showed careful selection and were well grown and in good condition. Prices were as follows:—Holstein heifers 145s to 162s fid, colored heifers 145s to 1555, Shorthorn heifers 115s to lG5s (for exceptionally well-grown stuff). On account of Mr. H, Sanson, junr., we offered about 80 heifers, which made: Colored 145s to 150s, Shorthorn sorts 112s 3d to 137s 6d. We also offered several lines on account of sundry clients and made from 90s to 110s.

On Tuesday, 4th inst., we lield our usual fortnightly sale in ouv Stratford yards when, owing to the cold, unsettled weather wc had only a small yarding. Colored weaner heifers are still in demand, and realised 51s to 575, weaner steers 32s'(id to 38s, 18-months steers 67s to 70s, "2-year in-calf heifers 78s Od to 955, store cows 41s to 00s, and up to 90s for forward cows. During the week we have disposed privately several lines of cattle and sheep at the following prices:—Mixed weaners 30s, 38s to 48s, IS-months steers fins and 60s Od, 18-months empty heifers 05s to 67s Od, 4 and 5-year ewes 9s Od and 10s, fat ewes 12s 9d, 18-months in-calf heifers 72s Od to 80s, lambs Ts, Ss Od and 9s, dairy cows 1265, 137s Od and up to 180s, 2-tooth wethers 13s.

MATTHEWS AND BENNETT'S REPORT. Matthews, Bennett and Co. repert that there was a poor yarding of cattle in their Inglewood yards on Wednesday last. Heifers, calved, £6 to £8 2s 0d; store cows, £2 to £3 3s sd; spring calves, £4 to £5 ss. OTHER MARKETS. AUCKLAND. At the Westfield yards oxen sold to 26s for best quality, others 23s to 25s per 1001b; cows and heifers 20s to s3s per 1001b. Steers sold at from £0 17s Od to £l3 10s, cows £4 10s to £8 10s, heifers £5 to £7 12s Od. Veal pens were Hvell filled, and,sold at late rates. Heavy vealers sold to £4 Is, medium weights £2 10s to £3, others : £1 to 355, small and fresh dropped 3s to 12a.

Sheep—Best wethers sold at from 16s 6d to 20s 3d, others 13s 3d to 16s, heavy ewes 13s 9d to 15s 3d, others 10s 6d to 13s Gd, hoggets (shorn) 12s to 13s 3d, others 12s to 18s. Pigs—Baconers £2 7s to £2 12s, porkers £1 12s to £1 18s 6d, slips 13s to 15s. JOHNSONVILLE. Messrs Abraham aind Williams, Ltd., report on their Johnsonville sale as follows:—Prime' heavy' bullocks £lO 2s M to £lO 15s, lighter. £9, 10s to £9 ,15s, light £9 17s 6d to £9 ss, vealers 26s k> 39b, cows £5 to £6, good wethers 17s 6d, medium wethers 16 6d, prime ewes 14s to 14s 9d, Jlght 13s, lambs 12s to 13s. a ADDINGTON. Lambs—Good forward lines 12s to 12s 6d, others 10s to lis Gd, ewe lambs 12s lid, wethers (four and six-tooth, forward) 16s Gd to 10s 3d, two and fourtooth 14s to 16s, two-tooth lis 9d (for an especially good line), two and fourtooth sorts passed at 17s 4d. Ewes, two- ; tooth to 17s Gd, four, six and eight-tooth (very good) 18s 3d, six and eight-tooth to 17s 2d, two, four, six and eight-tooth 12s to 14s, full and failing-mouth 9s to 12s, aged sorts 5s to 7s Gd, merinos ,4s 9d to 9s sd. Fat lambs—Tegs 17s to 19s lOd, extra to 295, average freezing weights 14s 3d to 10s 6d, light and unfinished sorts lis to 14s. Fat cattle —Beef realised 23s Gd to 265, extra to 29s .per 1001b (the latter price being realised for some nice steers). Steers made £7 15s to £l2 ss, heifers £5 15s to £9 12s Gd, cows £5 10s to £8 15s. Store cattle —Fifteen to 18-months sorts £2 13s to £>3 7s Gd, two-year heifers £3 15s, three-year steers £G 12s Gd, cows £2 to £4. Pigs—Choppers made 60s to 955, heavy baconers 65s • to 72s fid, lighter sorts 50s to 00s (equal to 5d to 5%d per lb). An exceptionally good line of 21 averaged £4 2s, heavy porkers 40s to 465, lighter 33s to 37s 6d (equivalent to per lb). Stores were well represented, and there was a fair demand for all classes, values being the same as the previous week. Heavy stores realised from 35s to 44s 6d, medium sorts 22s to 325, small pigs 14s to 20s, weaners 9s to 12s.

BURNSIDE. At Burnsido best bullocks made £lO 10s to £l2 2s 6d, extra heavy to £ls 2s Od, medium to good £8 10s to £9 10s, light £0 10s to £7 15s, best cows and heifers £8 10s to £9 10s, extra good to £ll 2s 6d, medium £7 to £B, light £4 15s to £O. Fat sheep —Best wethers 19s Od to 225, extra to 25s 'Od, medium to good 16s 6d to 18s Od, light 14s to 15s 6(1, best ewes 17s Od to 19s, extra to 24s 9d, medium 15s Od to 17s, light lis to 13s Od. Fat lambs —Best 16s fid to 18s 9d, extra to 20s Od, medium to good 14s 6d to 15s 6d, light lis to 14s. pigs—Suckers to 10s, stores 10s to 235, porkers 32s to 40s, heavy porkers to 47b, heavy do. to 655.
