STRATFORD SOCCER TEAM

The Stratford Association Football Club has recently taken a new lease of life. Several experienced players, who have been strangers to the field for some years, have commenced practice, and, judging by Monday's showing, they will make the -other clubs look to their laurels in the cup fixtures. Dixon, who was tried at centre on Monday, whilst a trifle slow for the position, should with practice prove a decided acquisition. He. and McKinley, at inside right, worked well together. Liddington was the pick of the halves, but all the backs were good. Patrick started shakily, but soon warmed up to his work. Dan Twohill, an ex-Wellington rep., is very fast, and did good service for the Stratford team, who had the better of the game, but were up against too good a man in Sheppard, the New Plymouth goalkeeper.
