CLAIM FOR CANCELLATION. By Telegraph— Prass Association. Reefton, Thursday, The secretary of the Miners' Union has lodged a claim for a cancellation suit against the Consolidated Goldfields Company, on account of the undermanning of the Wealth of Nations Mine, also against the Blackwater Mines, Ltd., for undermanning the Blackwater mine. The cases are to be heard on Thursday. MERCHANT SERVICE GUILD. Wellington, Thursday. The Merchant Service Guild is not satisfied with the recommendations of the Conciliation Council in the dispute regarding the conditions of employment of officers, and will bring the matter before the Arbitration Court. STATE INDUSTRIES. Wellington, Last Night. At a conference of employees in the clothing trade to-day a resolution was passed that the true solution of the present economic problem Jies in the establishment of State-owned industries, and urging the Government to establish a State-owned clothing factory. THE REEFTON STRIKE. Reefton, Last Night. There are no further developments with regard to the mining trouble. A number of the men are finding work in local industries. The growing coal export trade of Reefton is giving an outlet for several local married men. and a few men are being taken on again by the company. The Inglewood mine is now nearly complete for working. Active operations are about to be undertaken on the New Scotia claim in the Merrijigs, which district is now attracting considerable attention from prospectors. Business has naturally been seriously affected, but very few, if any, married men have permanently left the town. There is considerable discussion over the question of the cancellation suit.
