A SENSATIONAL EXPERIENCE. By Te./egraph—Press Association. Palmerston North. Yesterday. A terrifying experience befell a Longburn settler and his wife yesterday afternoon. Potato picking was in progress in a field, and he was preparing to return home iwdth a pony cart, owing to the approach of a thunderstorm. The pony had just been harnessed, and the woman had taken the reins, when a vivid flask of lightning occurred. The pony reared up anldi fell dead, while both man and wife were temporarily blinded. On recovering their sight after the lapse of about fifteen minutes it was found that the pony had received the shock in its eyes, which were destroyed.
