OIL FUEL
A PROMISING DEVELOPMENT.
By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, May 28. The new Australian 18,000-ton White Star liner will use liquid fuel. Other companies are making similar developments with a view to using the Panama Canal and utilising the Texan and Mexican oilfields.
NEW STEAMER LINE. Received 29, 11,30 p.m. Sydney, May 29. A mew line of oil-burning cargo steamers is contemplated between Pacific Coast ports and Australia. It will comprise eight vessels, the first sailing in October. Mr. J. J. Moore, of San Francisco, is the promoter. ILLEGAL OCCUPATION. Received 30, 1.10 a.m. Washington, May 29. Attorney-General Wickersham has brought a suit on behalf of the Government against the Southern Pacific Railroad Company, alleging the illegal securing of valuable oil land's in California. Mr. Wickersham alleges a criminal conspiracy among high officials of the company, involving three million sterling.
