LAXITY OF THE BOARD OF TRADE.

Senator Smith, chairman of the Titanic Enquiry Committee, speaking in the Senate, said: that the laxity of the Board of Trade was largely responsible for the disaster; and the lack of discipline after the vessel struck resulted iu the sacrifice of five hundred lives.
THE SENATE'S REPORT,
THE CAPTAIN CENSURED.
Received 29, 10.30 p.m. New York, May 28. SenatoT Smith, chairman of the Titanic Enquiry Committee, has presented the sub-committee's report, which severely censures Captain Lord for lack of vigilance, as he could have saved all those lost in the disaster. Mr. Ismay was not held responsible for the high speed, as he is barely mentioned in the report. The Senate voted a medal to Captain Rostron, of the Carpathia, and specially thanked Captain Rostron and his crew.
