j MISS BUCKMAN'S CONCERT.

| Residents of New Plymouth should not | miss the opportunity of attending Miss Buckman's concert to-nigbt. It is un- ? necessary to remind lovers of music of the treat in store for them, as Miss Buckman'ss musical and artistic ability has been fully recognised throughout New Zealand and Australia. In the selegtion of the prorn-nmme care has been taken to select items suitable to the tastes of every concert-goer, and amongst her contributions Miss Buckman will sing, by special request, Alfred Hill's latest Maori song, "Waiata Maori" (see programme in amusement column). The concert-giver will be strongly supported' by Miss Ina Boswortli, the popular violinist, Mr. Larscii, the eminent baritone, and Miss Warren, pianist and accompanist. The box plan is now open at Collier's, and according to present bookings New Plyj mouth residents intend to give Miss Buck(man a genuine and enthusiastic send-off. For the convenience of patrons 2s tickets may be obtained on application to the booking office, without extra charge, thereby saving a great deal of inconvenience at the ticket office. A.B. writes:—"As one who has heard Miss Buckman in opera in Melbourne, will your permit me to say a few words in reference to our New Zealand artist who is making a short stay with us? I may say that this young lady has made marvellous strides in her profession. Possessing a beautifully clear soprano voice of great power, which she uses with tact, and, further, being naturally studious, I was not in the least surprised when Madame Melba selected her to take an important role in her company. This position she filled to the entire satisfaction of Madame Melba, an<l with great pleasure to large audiences in Australia. Personally I am looking forward to a musical treat at Miss Buckman's concert on Wednesday, and I hope to see a packed house as a compliment to a New Zea-land-born artist. Miss Buckman is going to sing a, typical Maori love-song, specially composed for her by Mr. Alfred Hill. As I have had the pleasure of hearing her sing this, I think that both in the vocal

and instrumental passages of this song she will fairly startle her audience."
