WHOLESALE DISQUALIFICATION. J By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, May 23. The Rugby League has disqualified 18 juniors for life for assaulting a referee. THE NORTHERN LEAGUE GAME. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. At a -meeting here this evening it was decided to form a Wellington Provincial League, affiliated to the New Zealand Rugby League. 0. Gillet, organiser for the Northern League, said that the New Zealand League was willing to assist Wellington in the matter of advice and finance. The rules of the game proviued that nobody should get any compensation for playing in their leisure time, and no man drew anything for Saturday afternoons. The men were only paid when on tour and losing wages. Any nwn who relied on making money enougn to keep him by playing the game would be making a great mistake. The ground bogey would be done away with for this season. Nominations were received from four clubs, and it was decided to commence training immediately. It was announced that arrangements had been made for representative matches to be played between Wellington, Nelson, Hawko's Bay, Taranaki, Auckland and Watiganui. A match would be played between New South Wales and Wellington, and in all probability between New South Wales and New Zealand. A touring team would be sent to New South Wales during the season. Nelson desired to send a team here on June 8.

The following players will represent Taranaki v. Wanganui, to be played at Wanganui on June I:—E. Stockman, D. Twohill, C. Watson, M. Julian, P. Sullivan, H. Tocker, A. Cooper, C. Moir, N. Kyle, R. Pukere, C. Robinson, P. Allan, L. Walshe. The team will leave by mail train on the morning of the match and return on Monday, June 3. Taranaki has challenged Auckland for the Northern Union Cup, the match to take place in Auckland, after which Taranaki will receive a visit from Auckland. Taranaki and Australia will meet at Ne>v Plymouth this year, and Auckland, Hawke's Bay, Wellington and Wanganui will also visit Taranaki.
