' J. H. Prosser will not be able to attend the Wanganui meeting, owing to Mrs. Prosser's serious illness. His pair Jof jumpers, Lovell and Torbelle, were railed to Wanganui on Tuesday, under the care of H. McSweeney, who is to ride them in their engagements.

f Those who have assisted to make Byron such a pronounced favorite for the Connolly Handicap at Wanganui will not be pleased to learn that he struck himself one morning last week, and was off the tracks for three days. During his retirement he was given light physic. He may strip as well as ever, but a spell on the eve of a meeting does not tend to help a horse to get over one mile and a quarter successfully. On Tuesday afternoon T. Pritchard was removed from Hutt to a private hospital in the city. It has been found necessary to rebreak and reset the injured leg.

Mr. T. Quinlivan left for the north 'last night by the Rarawa. taking with him the racehorse Theodore,, who will participate in the Great Northern Steeplechase meeting.
