[ The dangerous practice of receiving and dispatching trains from the outer line of rails at Hastings' railway station would have resulted in a terrible accident this morning but for tho courageous action of Porter Gordon. A lady passenger from Hastings to Palmer-, ston crossed the line and boarded the train for Napier. When told of her mistake ijhe stepped backwards right in front of the Napier-Wellington express.'
