ARMENIAN CHIEF KILLED.

DRAMATIC BURGLARY. Berlin, May 21. Gendarmes at Bredow were pursuing two burglars, when one of the latter fired, killing an official named Kleinschmied. The gendarmes, retaliating, wounded the burglar, who was then shot dead by his comrade, apparently to prevent the betrayal of secrets. The second burglar was eventually killed. Neither has been identified.

FIGHTING IN ALBANIA. Athens, May 22. Official advices state that there has been further severe fighting in Albania. Basri Bey is leading 15,000 revolutionaries at Dibra.

THE FATAL MOTOR ACCIDENT. Berlin, May 21. In connection with the fatal accident to Prince George, it appears that the car was travelling at 50 miles an hour, and, after skidding with tremendous leaps, threw Prince George from the steering wheel. His face struck the bonnet of the car and his skull was split.

A STATE ASTRONOMER. Sydney, May 22. Mr. Cooke, Government Astronomer, for West Australia, has been appointed astronomer for New South Wales.
