Hull's (Minister of Finance) resignation, intimated that there would be a reconstruction of the Ministry at the end of the session. Meanwhile' the Hon. J. C. Smuts (Minister of Railways) would be entrusted with the portfolio of Finance. Mr. Hull accused the Hon. J. W. Sauef (Minister of Justice) of systematically ignoring his colleagues and incurring expenditure on amended railway rates without consulting the Cabinet. Mr. Sauer denied, this .
