KING GEORGE HALL
SCENE OF WINTER SHOW. The progress that has been made in agriculture in Taranaki and the expanding influence of the Taranaki Agricultural Society is reflected in the new King George Coronation Agricultural Hall which has been erected in St. Germain Square. This spacious building has been constructed specially for the accommodation of the Society's winter shows, and as the third winter show to be held next month will be the first exhibition to take place in the new hall the event will no doubt attract more than ordinary interest. J From the large number of entries received in the factory butter and cheese classes it would seem that this section will be a show in itself. All the leading dairies and factories in Taranaki and the neighboring districts will be represented. Of the 70,000 feet of spaee which will be available a large amount has been taken up by exhibitors of tradesmen's displays, implements, and working ■machinery, so that farmers visiting the show will have an opportunity of seeing the latest appliances in connec- ! tion with the industry. j The sections for which entries will ■ still be received are farm produce, home ' industries, Technical School classes, gar- I den produce, native competitions, and general exhibitions. Copies of the schedule may be obtained from the sectary (.Mr. Arthur Cliff), and from a perusal of the booklet it will be seen that the Society has catered for all connected with farming and dairying, without neglecting such important features as home industries and Technical School classes. Valuable prizes are being offered in the different sections and keen competition may be expected. Tn a province like Taranaki it is but natural that dairy produce will form tho backbone of the show, but as a favorable season has been experienced it is anticipated that the exhibition of fruits and garden produce will be of a Mob. standard. The Technical School classes always arouse keen interest amongst the youth of_ the province, and while the .father will bestow all his energies on perfecting his kitchen garden products i the mother will use her best endeavors ' to produce the best bread, scones or cake for exhibition in the home industries section. Special arrangements have been made with the Railway Department for extra train accommodation on show" days, and excursion rates will prevail. The show will be opened by the Governor, Lord Islington, on June 5, and will remain open until the Bth. Entries close with the secretary at 9 o'clock on Saturday night.
