WHEN DOCTORS DISAGREE

A CONFLICT OF TESTIMONY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. The circumstances surrounding the death of James W. Gumming, who died on Saturday and whose funeral had to be postponed yesterday, were the subject of an inquiry by Mr. Graham (coroner) this afternoon. Dr. Roberts and Dr. W. Marshall Mac Donald gave evidence that death was due to a tumour on the brain. Dr. De Lautonr expressed the opinion that death was due to haemorrhage of the brain, but he contended that this was due to disintigration of blood caused by sewer gai poison, and that death was "not due to the existence of a tumour. The coroner returned a verdict that death was due to haemorrhage of the brain caused by a tumour and that sewer gas was not the cause of death.
