Mr. H. Trimble waa on Saturday reelected chairman of the Moa Road Board for the fourteenth year in succession. Mr, Dension Miller, Inspector of th« Bank of New South Wales, has been appointed Governor of the Commonwealth" Bank.
The Hon. Geo. Fowlds will visit New Plymouth this week. On Saturday evening he will give an address in the interests of the United Labor Party, and on Sunday afternoon will addrew th» New Plymouth Brotherhood. In consequence of the death of the King of Denmark official mourning baa been proclaimed. The Governor and Lady Islington have, therefore, Been obliged to cancel all social engagement* for a fortnight. Yesterday the interment took place of Mrs. Ellen Kibby, of Fitzroy, wife of Councillor Kibby. A large cortege followed the funeral to the Te Henui cemetery. The deceased lady, who was esteemed and respected by all with whom she came in contact, was an old resident of Fitzroy.
