PETROLEUM NEWS.
THE TARAXAKI FIELD. Owing to the temporary stoppage >■ the flow of \o. 2 bore, which had been l .v.v.h-: f..r nvo years and a half continuously. the manager withdrew the casing the ouier day, and cleaned' on# the wax that had clogged the perforations at the bottom of the bore. When the well was opened up again yesterday oil and mud were thrown up over the top of the derrick. The well ioo» began to flow oil steadily, and at a late hour last night the manager reported that there was no diminution in the output, which is expected, now that, the well is clear again, to be as great a* ever it was. At no time in the history of the Moturoa field have things looked better than at present. This should be a good augury for the future preparations of the new company. Cabled advice received in New Plymouth yesterday indicates that all arrangements in connection with the refinery, etc., are in a forward state. Notices calling a special meeting of the Taranaki Petroleum Company in connection with the liquidation proceedings will be posted this evening.
