CRIME IN SYDNEY
SALUTARY SENTENCE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received l(i, 0.25 p.m. Sydney, May 10. A youth named Talbot has been sentenced to twelve years' imprisonment in connection with the burglary episode at McCormack's, North Sydney. A cable message received on April 5 says that an exciting encounter occurred at North Sydney. Andrew McCormack, when locking up his house, was confronted by a masked man, who presented a revolver at his head. McCormack knocked the revolver aside and closed witli the man. They struggled and wrestled for the length of the garden. His cries brought his brother to his assistance, and together they disabled the intruder and conveyed him to the police station. The police also arrested an armed man in the city early in the morning. Upon searching him they found a portion of the proceeds of one of the recent numerous burglaries. The man fought savagely before Deing overpowered.
