PARIHAKA ROAD BOARD.
■ MONTML I. if MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Parihaka Road Board was held on Thursday last, the following members being present: ■Messrs Young (chairman), Ducker, Ilavvery, Leahy, Potter and Willcox. At the outset Mr. Young was re-elect-ed chair-man, oil the motion of Mr. Leahy.. Messrs Ducker and Willcox declined nomination.
Regarding Pnngarehu road, it was reported that, when interviewed by a committee, Mr. Crisp said that he intended shifting his fence to near the proper line and leave the lnetalway clear for a time. Several members yon-tended that the Board had a -right to the road, seeing that it had been in undisputed possession of it for .about twenty years. Tt was decided to obtain a legal opinion on the subject. Mr. Greenaway is to be requested to shift his fence at once.
On the motion of Mr. Willcox, it was decided to call for tenders for renovating the Board's office. Members resolved that the Board vote .CO towards the Opouraka road, providing Mr. Symons found a similar amount. 'Subsequently Mr. Symons agreed to donate £2, and both parties agreed -to hold the matter over. Application is to be made to the Government for a grant for forming, bridging and stumping on the, Wiremu road, from Okahu to Puniho. Regarding the Turu road, it was notified that the Department had provisionally accepted a loan for £4OO. The Reserves Agent also -wrote that should the Board decide to raise a loan of £350 for the formation of this road up to Mr. C. 11. Pepperill's that the native occupiers would pay their proportion. The clerk was empowered to take the. accessary steps to raise the loan. Mr. Leahy brought up the question of improving the Lower Waiteika road, as asked for by Mr. Denham, and the foreman was instructed to report and take into consideration repairs for -the whole road.
Foreman J. P. Kennedy reported that regarding Opua road special works rate, repairs had heen completed. The road had heen repaired and coated from Mr. Oallandar's to Mr. Bowman's, and from Mr. Callander's to down near the main road with broken stone. The upper Kahui road had also heen repaired, and both patches had heen attended to on the Lower Waiteika road, near Mr. Denham's place. Repairs to the Bayly road would he put in hand immediately. Reporting on the. Upper Arawhata road, the foreman said that about a mile and a-half, from Mr. Strouge's to Mr. Markltam's, was almost impassable. On the motion of Mr. Willeox, it was decided to spend £35 in repairing the road. The foreman was also authorised to repair the Tallin road, and to let the suggested repairs to the. Tipper Kina road stand over for a while.
