McDonald, J. R. Hill, J. Brown, G. Tait, A. 11. Halcombe, D. McAllum and M. C. Reynolds. THE HOSPITAL RATE.

The Egmont County Council wrote expressing the opinion that the formation work in connection w.ith the site of the new hospital ehould have .been done out of Joan money instead of general revenue. The council also intimated that it considered that the rate of tcnpence in the hundred pounds, to be levied during the current year, was an exhorbitant charge. The matter was not discussed. THE HOSPITAL DISTRICT.

In a letter to the Board, Mr C. Leech stated that the settlers of Awakino noted with pleasure that the question of including the Awakino County in the Taranaki Hospital District had been favorably considered by the Board. Tt was beyond question, he added, that the New Plymouth Hospital was the natural objective for all in that district requiring medical or surgical treatment through illness or accident. This being so, then the county's inclusion in the Taranaki hospital district was anxiously awaited. He asked for particulars as to whether the Board would assist in the establishment of a district nurse for the county as was done in the case of Uruti.

The Awakino is under the control of the Waikato Hospital Board. A conference of the two boards had, it was explained, been suggested with a view to seeing if some arrangement could be come to with regard to partitioning the comity. One portion would thus be controlled by the Taranaki Board. The matter was deferred. OPUNAKE AMBULANCE.

Til reference to tlio ambulance shed at Optinake, Senr.-Sergeant, Haddrell intimated that Inspector Wilson had no objection to placing the building on police property in the township. This was subject to the distinct understanding that the rdied should be removed when required by the Justice Department.
